At the core of Q Empire Productions is CEO Quanah Jay Hicks of Orange County New York. Quanah is a uniquely multi-faceted individual: a singer/songwriter, music producer, multi-instrumentalist, photographer, cinematographer, director of films and composer of film scores. Quanah has written & produced alongside major label/platinum artists, video game publishers, television networks and animation/film production companies. His music credits include Universal Music Group, Bravo, Sundance, TLC, Discovery Channel, FOX, Style Network, ABC Family, Travel Channel, Oprah Winfrey Network, PBS, Oxygen, Esquire, ETV, Atari/Infograms, Activision and many more.
Quanah’s first entry into the independent film world began with his short film, “Teodora,” which he wrote, produced, directed and scored. As a result of his directing style and unique aesthetic showcased in the film, he garnered the attention of film industry professionals who joined him to be a part of his first feature length film, “1.7 Alpha.” For this film, Quanah took on the duties of writer, director, producer and composer, as well as cinematographer, editor, color grader and visual fx. In the 2015 Hoboken International Film Festival, “1.7 Alpha” was nominated ‘Best Screenplay‘, and in the 2015 Hudson Valley International Film Festival, Quanah was nominated ‘Best Director.‘
